Vacation Part 1: Cape Hatteras

Hey everyone! Today I'm going to be sharing all my pictures from my visit to the ocean. It was so beautiful there and was such a great getaway with my family. Hope you enjoy. :)

The Beach
We found so many beautiful shells in the sand. Most the time I only find a few little whole shells when we visit other beaches but we found bucket loads of gorgeous shells on the Cape Hatteras beach.
Oddly enough I never noticed the random arm at the right corner of this picture. Whoops.

Love this one. ;)

Oh look --there's me trying to look casual while hugging a piece of wood.

The Sound
My family and I had never visited the Sound (better known as the Pamlico Sound) so we got to swim there for a while. If you don't know what the Sound is, it's pretty much a shallow body of water that's along the eastern shore. It's like a shallower and waveless version of the ocean. My little sisters loved it since they could walk and play in it like a kiddy pool.

Watching the Sunrise
On one of the days we spent at the beach, we (as in my mom, sister, and I)  actually managed to get up early and watch the sunrise. It was beyond beautiful. We visited a quiet little beach and I of course, took lots and lots of pictures. There's something so heavenly and sacred about sunrises/ sunsets. The way the colors collide together, how the sun peeks out of the water and slowly floats to the sky.
Funny thing about this pic is that it looks so easy to capture. When in reality I had to do a back-bend while shaping my hands in a heart and my mom quickly took the picture. There is probably a really simple way to accomplish "the sunset hand heart look" but I have the habit of accidentally making things wayyy harder than they actually are.

 Ocracoke Island
Look how crazy those seagulls look! Apparently if you feed a seagull a fish cracker it goes completely bonkers as it swarm around you until you throw it another one. While we rode on a ferry to get to Ocracoke, my sister threw a fish cracker for a nearby seagull to eat. The only problem was that some other seagulls had also seen the cracker and of course wanted their fair share. So they all began to swarm around my sister as she threw fish crackers to them. It was an amazing sight to see.

We got to see wild horses there which is something Ocracoke Island is famous for. Read more about them here.

Food and Drink
~random food and drinks I had~
Mmmmm. We made little tropical drinks (non-alcoholic of course) with strawberries and grapes in it. It was so easy to make. Maybe I could do a little recipe tutorial for it sometime.

One night for supper we had a shrimp boil that my mom made. It definitely has become a family favorite. :)

I do believe we had ice cream at least twice a day when we were on vacation. Which was pretty great since the weather was really hot and humid.

We also went to a few seafood restaurants while we were there. I didn't get any pictures of the food but trust me, the food was scrumptious.

I'll be posting the next part of my vacation next week. I created a little video as an overview of my entire vacation which will be in the next post. Thanks for reading! :)

I'm not the only one who knows seagulls go crazy over fish crackers!! When I was at the beach a while ago, my siblings and I would throw them in the air and the seagulls would catch them! Two bumped into each other and one destroyed our sandcastle. XD

    1. Thanks, Joy! Haha! Yeah, those seagull will do anything for fish crackers. ;) It was so hilarious to see them all frantically dive for the crackes as if their lives depended on it. :)
