About Me

I'm a girl who loves to create.
loves to dream.
and loves to eat.
(Wow that last one doesn't sound quite as profound, but anywho.)
Hey! I'm an American, eighteen year old who is also a former homeschooler. I like starchy food, books thick as bricks, indie folk music, and comfortable clothing. I love the smell of coffee but can't stand the taste. I go by my nickname, Eve, on this blog.
Let me tell you a little more about myself.

First and foremost, I'm a Christian. I believe that God created this world we live in and that his son, Jesus, came down to earth in the form of an infant to save us all and die for our sins. And even though it's hard for my selfish, human mind to fathom, I am here to servenot to be comfortable. My family and I started a mission for kids who need a safe place to hang out and eat or those who struggle with addiction. Over time it has become a church where people can feel accepted and loved. It's definitely not your average, cookie-cutter church. We don't wear our Sunday best or put our masks on to make others think we are perfect. Our motto is: come as you are.

I have a heart for children. I have enjoyed working at kindergarten summer school classes, tutoring young children, and babysitting little ones when I was younger but never thought of teaching young children as a career path until last year. I work at a preschool now and I could not be happier. I teach a four-year-old class and am always finding new ways for them to enjoy learning. I want to be a preschool teacher and am working towards this goal by teaching at a preschool and doing online classes to get my Early Childhood Education Associates Degree. I hope to one day start my own preschool/daycare that reflects my philosophy of what early education should be.

I'm also a major homebody, but I've always dreamed of traveling around the world. I want to meet new people and see the diverse cultures that each country has. Although the thought of wanderlust sounds fun and exciting, my heart will always belong to the Midwest. where the sunsets are on fire and cornfields stretch across land after land. I love it here.

I'm obsessed with any show that is made by BBC or related to that (ya know Call the Midwife, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Land Girls, Downton Abbey, Bletchley Circle, the lists goes on and on. I'm not sure how many British shows I've watched, but I do know it's a rather unhealthy amount. *says in a British accent (of course)* ;) I've even watched The Great British Baking Show. It was a beautiful thing to see bakers working together and actually being kind to each other while not screaming and crying like they do on American baking shows. Goodness. The difference is far too obvious and a little saddening on America's part.

I'm a bit of a wallflower when I meet new people. I appreciate silence (not the silence from Doctor Who mind you, those things are CREEPY) and am told that I'm a good listener. I much rather stay in my room and read a book than have a full on conversation with someone I don't know.

Art has always been a big part of my life. Even at a young age, I knew that art was my way of coping the stress of the world and trying to make sense of the world around me. I drew picture after picture and painted anything I could get my hands on. As I grew older, my love for art began to expand and branch out into new various ways for creating things.

Photography was one of those other things. I got my first camera when I was six. It was a purple disposable camera, and it made me feel very grown up. ;) Once I got older I went through a few digital camera, and finally a few years ago I got my first DSLR. Photography has become a way for me to capture precious moments in my life. I don't like posed pictures where everyone looks perfect. I like to show a person's personality and their natural beauty. I have started my own photography business in my area and so far, I'm loving it.

About a year ago, I discovered that I loved to web/graphic design. It is another way for me to express myself with art and is so much fun to do!

This blog is much more of a public journal than a website. I share my thoughts, my photography, and simply my life on this little corner of the internet. I try to be as honest as I can, and express my emotions through my writing. I am far from perfect, my posts are irregular, I sometimes don't proofread or use auto correct, but I am real. And to me, that's the most important thing to be. I love getting to know my readers (more like my internet buddies) and nearly spring tears of joy when I read your sweet words.

So glad you were able to stop by! Stay awhile?
