Blogging

After reading this post by Hannah, who shared her thoughts on how blogging has become more commercialized and impersonalized, I decided to share my view on the matter as well. I feel like bloggers can sometimes become consumed in how much traffic, followers, and stats they're getting. To me, blogging is so much more than that. Blogging is sharing our lives, and stories with others and making new friends from around the world.

It's easy to fall into the mindset that it's all about the popularity our blogs are getting or how many views we get in a day. Sometimes I catch myself wondering why one post got more comments than the other, or why I haven't gotten any new followers lately. But then I remember why I ever even started blogging. I decide to do it simply to share God's love, and to capture the sweet moments of life through photography and writing.

I remember when I first started my blog about a year ago. I didn't have any followers for a few months, let alone any views. It left me feeling discouraged, because in a way I wanted to know if there was someone out there who was even listening to what I was writing. The teen blogger community on here is so amazing. After awhile, people started to discover my blog, and I met so many kindred spirits. I love how we all support and encourage each other. It really is a beautiful thing.

It's hard to be ourselves in a sea full of blogs. I find myself trying to conform to the ways other people blog. I've realized that blogging is about originality. We share inspiration, our lives, advice, etc. I love what Hannah mentioned in her post,

"But at the heart of it, blogging is truly about your story. Step outside and breathe in the smell of leaves and remember why you write. Bake with your littles in your kitchen, flour on your face, and remember why you make pictures. Spend a day surrounded by family, and remind yourself of who you are and who you want to be."
-Hannah

Even though it's nice to get comments and followers, let us not forget the reason we started blogging in the first place.
Be you when you blog.
Because you're awesome and unique.
And no one else has quite a story like yours.

your story || aspire
(Hannah started a project called Your Story awhile back. Although she has stopped blogging, I thought I could share her idea with you guys. It's where you share a post of your photography and write about how your life has been once a week on your blog. The purpose of this project is to be original with what you post, and to share your story with others. I'm gonna do it. Why not give it a try?)

p.s. I did a photoshoot for my sister on her blog. I just adore her style. Here's the link:http://queen-anneslace.blogspot.com/ if you would like to check it out.

  4. Oh wow. What awesome pictures!! :D I want a cozy blue sweater like that! ;) (I like comfy sweaters) Awesome pictures! I know! I still remember the feeling when I got my first follower! Every time someone follows it means they enjoy your blog and intend to stay a while. :) Which is really neat! :)

  5. my goodness, i agree wholeheartedly. i'ts actually been nice the last couple of months, because i've been SUPER busy and haven't even hardly had time to moderate my comments much less post or keep track of page views or followers and such, something i did religiously. i've been feeling so free lately. it's fun to post. i think my weekly sunset posts are annoying to other sometimes, but i never get tired of them. i've been learning to not go, will others like this? is this an easy topic for discussion? and just post what is on my heart.
BEAUTIFUL pictures, by the way. i love this post. but it does kind of make me sad that Hannah doesn't post anymore. i'm glad her blog is still up though, because literally at least once a week i find myself back there reading her dear words.

    1. I know exactly what you mean.
Btw, I never get tired of sunset post. They're so enchanted looking in my option. I love how sunsets can make any photo look beautiful.
Those questions past through my mind as well. I wanted people to like my blog, but I discovered that my favorite blogs were written from the heart. Now I'm completely embracing the truth that it's not about the popularity. It's truly about sharing our stories, inspiration, thoughts, etc. with others.
Thank you, Abigail! I know, I miss Hannah so much! Unfortunately, I joined her blog after she had already stopped posting. Her words are truly inspiring. What do ya know, I do the same thing! :) Since I couldn't be there when she was actively blogging, I now like to check out all the beautiful posts I've missed.

Oh and I just wanted to say that you have become one of my favorite bloggers. I love your photos (your little dog, Daisy ;) ) and writing. I'm so glad I found your site! :)

  8. Blogging is such a great medium to express your thoughts and opinions. It enables your voice to be heard and your talents to be seen. This post was the embodiment of all my feelings toward blogging. In this day and age it's hard for things not to be commercialized and at times it is easy to be consumed with the popularity of your blog. It would be a lie to say that I haven't on many occasions stared at my page waiting for the page views to increase. But then I begin to realize that no matter how many people view my posts, if at least one person laughs, smiles or becomes inspired by my words then I have done my job. Blogging isn't about popularity,it's about providing a place for people to get to know you and fill themselves with new insight. It's about building a safe place for a community to grow and thrive, a place for knowledge to be shared. For that I am thankful for being able to call myself a blogger.

  10. These words are so inspiring! Sometimes I only care about the views and comments I get on my blog and I forget that I need to be blogging for myself.
