Happy Birthday, Sis

Happy birthday, sis. You're now eight years of age! Can you even fathom that? I can't. It seems like only yesterday I saw you for the very first time. You were swaddled like a little burrito as I held your tiny self in my arms. 

But you have grown. My, how you have grown. Your so tall now and you have such admirable determination. You're growing up and becoming your very own person. One of my favorite qualities about you is your gentle heart. You don't believe in killing bugs because you think they're just as important as humans. You love animals of any sort and treat them all with gentleness care.

Your mind is sensitive like mine. You still sometimes cry over your kitten that died years ago and that day you were sick and weren't able to get ice cream from the ice cream truck. But don't be ashamed of those tears, dear. It shows that the world has not gotten to you yet. That it hasn't told you, "toughen up", "don't be such a baby", "You're weak", because, little one, those are lies. Terrible lies that try to make your heart turn to stone.
Always remember that you are beautiful and so is your spirit. You seek out those who feel left out. Your laughter is contagious, making those around you happier than before. So keep on smiling, keep on believing, and keep on knowing how special you are. I know God has such a terrific plan already woven for you, and I'm so happy He chose me to be your big sister. Happy birthday, Becs! I love you so. <3
