i walk back through the memories
that collected like dew on the grass.
to love is a choice. so make it count.

Wintertime
i. it tastes like
melted milk chocolate
striped peppermint sticks
bitter coffee
ii. it smells like
sugar cookies baking
dried leaves
dried leaves
cinnamon sticks
fresh, new air
fresh, new air
iii. it feels like
ice so cold it burns
prickly pine trees toppled with icy snow
chills that rest beneath my bones
iv. it looks like
embers dancing in the wind
mittens protecting little hands
the world washed clean
dragon's smoke slipping from my lips
dragon's smoke slipping from my lips
v. it sounds like
snow boots crunching in thick snow
children yelling with joy
the crackling of burning logs
PERFECTION. <3<3 wow.
ReplyDeleteThank you so very much!!! <3
DeleteWow! Your poetry is beautiful. I never could work out all the rules of peotry and I gave up learning it. But your writing makes me wish I hadn't!
ReplyDeleteI love how you talk about the parts of winter we don't know where I live. We hardly ever get snow here (in fact last winter was the first time I'd seen settled snow)!
Thanks, Sophie! I don't know a thing about poetry really. Such as the rules and whatnot. The reason I love writing poetry is because it doesn't come with tons of rules on how to word certain things. I love it simply because it allows me to express myself fully without any restrictions in its creativity.
DeleteOh, how lovely! That must have been a beautiful sight to see! <3 Thanks again!!!
