The Winner of the Writing Contest Is...

I have read all your stories and poems over and over again. They were all so good, but of course there can only be one winner. So,  it is time to announce the winner of writing contest. Who will it be...

*drum roll*
Introducing,
*the crowd is silence from the anticipation*
the winner of the contest,
Brittany from Daughter of the King!
*confetti falls from the ceiling*
*peppy music starts to play loudly*
Her story had me on the edge of my seat!
(By the way, Brittany I would love it if you could send me any other chapters you might make in the future, I would love to read them!)

Want to read it for yourself? Here it is! (Please take note that this belongs to Brittany so do not steal any content from her entry)

I looked up at the clouds gathering in the sky and frowned- rain again. It seemed that all it did was rain and it put a dull, dark damper on Devinport. “Hazel!” I called out, “I think we should head home. It’s going to rain…again. And it’s getting dark anyway.”
Hazel’s head popped up from a berry bush a few feet ahead of me, “oh come on Kendra! Just a few minutes longer! I just got to load this basket full!” She said lifting her half full basket of berries up, her little eyes sparkled and her smile spread out from ear to ear.
I smiled down at her. She had the most beautiful smile and it always crept into my heart and filled it up with warmth.
“I know; I know! But we must head home. Didn’t you hear about that boy who got struck by lightning? They said they just found him laying there; hair stuck up a foot high and his clothes charred right off him!” I said with a smirk, “We couldn’t let this beautiful braid just get ruined like that now can we?” I said fingering her silky hair.
She giggled, “Oh Kendra. You with your tall tales!”
“Well we really can’t stay Hazel. Momma wouldn’t want us out here in this storm.”
Hazel rolled her eyes, “It hasn’t even started raining yet-“She said but was interrupted by a sudden outburst of drizzling rain.
I laughed at her shocked expression, “Come on now! I’ll race you to the cottage! Last one there is a rotten cabbage!”
Hazel giggled, “It’s a rotten egg!” She corrected.
I snorted, “I was trying to rhyme! Respect my choice of words. Besides rotten cabbages smell worse!” And then I took off on a run to the cottage, Hazel close at my heels.

A sudden feeling of caution entered my heart when we neared the village. It was quiet but in the distance I could hear noises- angry voices. I could hear Hazel’s nearing footsteps and heavy breaths behind me. “Hold up!” I whispered to her putting out my hand to stop her.
“What’s wrong? It’s raining harder. I’m already soaked! We need to hurry up and get to the cottage.”
“Something’s wrong.” I whispered.
“What?” Hazel said this time fear creeping into her voice. I turned around and grabbed her by the shoulders, “I’m sure it’s nothing serious.” I said with a smile on my face, “I’m sure it’s nothing; but I need to make sure! Okay!?!”
Hazel’s eyes met mine, “Okay.” She said.
“All right. Now stay with me and do what I say…and be quiet.” I let go of her and started in the direction for our cottage which was also the direction the sound was coming from. Before I stepped three feet Hazel grabbed the back of my cloak, “Kendra.” She whispered.
“Yes?” I whispered back keeping my eyes ahead of me.
“Promise me…promise me you won’t leave me.”
I swirled around, “Of course not!” I said quietly, “I’d never leave you.”
“Promise?”
“Always and forever.” I said with a smile. She smiled her beautiful smile back at me.
We began walking forward-towards the voices. We didn’t make it far when we heard a scream. And then the whole village came alive. People ran down the dirt streets in alarm- screaming. Sounds of fighting sounded in the distance. We couldn’t see much; the rain pounding down around us. But the noises-the screams were awful. Hazel cried out in alarm from behind me and grabbed my hand. Her eyes were as big as saucers filled with fear. My heart squeezed and I looked ahead at the shadows scurrying through the streets. I took a few steps forward and tried to listen to what the people were shouting. I listened and I heard. It was only one word they screamed but it sent shivers through every bone of my body. My legs went numb with fear. One word.
Pirates.

The dreams floating in our mind.
As we lay our head down every night.
The outside world is tuned out.
Leaving our dreams to scream and shout.
The colorful things we wish for.
Because in our dreams we can have anything our hearts adore.
And though when we wake up you may have nothing.
When your dreaming you can everything you could ever think.
And the twinkling stars.
That light up the black night that seems to sallow the sky that you can see from here to mars.
You have to remember you'll have your dream.
When you fall asleep.
Every time you want to go into slumber.
Your always have that secret number.
Of your dreams.
No matter what it seems.

Wasn't that wonderful?!!?!

Movie Review: The Giver

Guess what? I watched The Giver on Friday!!! It was sooo good! I'm going to do a review on it for you guys. :)
Could you imagine a place without pain, war or suffering?
Where every chose is determined for you?
In Jonas's community it is exactly that. When he is chosen to learn about the suffering and the pleasure of the world from an elderly man he soon realizes that his society is far from perfect. He must make a decision, a big decision. One that will change everything...

My Review
I loved this movie! Trust me, I had my doubts since I saw many things that were not in the book. After watching it, I was glad about what they added. They stayed within the story line and made only better changes. If you've read The Giver and are wondering if it had that "part" in it (If you've read it and still don't understand, select the text that are below and it will reveal the message).
It has the part where the baby is shot with the injection...
I'm normally a big book critic when it comes to movies, and I dislike it when they don't do everything exactly like the book, but this movie was so good and actually was appropriate!!! If you haven't watched it you should think about doing so. :) Oh and it was done in black and white at first so I was so overjoyed when I heard that!!!
I rate this 5 stars!

Romance: A kiss or two.
Violence: A tiny bit.
Language:  None.
 Genre: Sci-Fi, Different Society.
Age: 12 and up.
Rated: PG:13

A New Blog | Writing Contest Info

Hello! I decided to make a book review website this week. At first I was just trying out new coding and such for what a book review blogger might want, but after a while I was like, "Hmm.. maybe I could start one." So that's what I did. I don't have any followers yet so if you enjoy the content then I'd be delighted if you followed. :) It's call A Bookish Blogger, and I think I'm going to really enjoy doing it. :)

I don't want to forget anyone who has entered the writing contest so I'll list the names of the ones I know have entered.

Sarah
Julia
Brittany
Kat
Jollygirl
Sophia
Chloe
Emily
Gimnastica

Please tell me if your name isn't up there. :)

Long Post: Awards, Writing, Something New

I got nominated for the Beautiful Blogger Award three times! Thank you BethanEmily, and Lizzie!

Rules:
- Answer the questions given to you.
- Give some questions for the people you nominate.
- Tell the people you nominate that you have nominated them.
{you may use this for your post but please link it back to me}

Bethan's Questions
1. Favorite dessert?
Why do you torture me so!?! ;) Hmm... probably,
*thinks of every dessert I've ever eaten*
Uhh... lava brownies!
FYI: The brownie batter is put in a muffin pan type thing, and then you put a Hershey kiss in the middle of each one. After you bake it, it's like a chocolaty piece of heaven! So good!

2. Having your picture taken or taking the picture?
Taking the pictures! I do like having my picture taken but post the time I'm the one holding the camera.

3. What do you love most about blogging?
The people! Our blogger community is so wonderful! Everyone is so encouraging and friendly. I consider most of them my dear friends. :)

4. Do you have a nickname?
Not many people know this if they're a blogger but.. I guess I'll tell you that...
*whispers*
Eve is my nickname...
My real name is very similar, but people call me Eve as well so I just went by that on my blog.

5. Do you consider yourself graceful?
Haha! Graceful my aunty! (If you watched Road to Avonlea you would understand the "aunty" part)
I've gotten more graceful as I've grown but people don't consider me graceful because I'm sorta clumsy.

6. If you could go out with a fictional character, who would it be and why?
Well, if I was of age to get married I would choose Gus Pike from Road to Avonlea. He was so nice, caring, faithful, and funny.

7. If you could take seven fictional characters out for dinner, who would they be and in what order would you seat them?
Hmmm... Let's see. I would invite Anne Shirley from Anne of Green Gables, August from The Secret Life of Bees, Merlin from Merlin, The tenth Doctor and the eleventh from Doctor Who,  and Sherlock Holmes from Sherlock. In that order too. :)

8. Are you left handed or right handed?
I'm a lefty!

9. Favorite Disney princess?
Belle.

10. What usually cheers you up?
Kind words, and sweets. :)

11. What is a weird dream you had?
Oh my, I'm about to share one of my many strange dreams with you. Be prepared.

This is very interesting so you might want to read this!
Okay, so I was at this church camp and it was sorta dark all the time there. I was just sitting on my bed in a cabin type dorm thing and I hear screaming. I was so shocked. This red headed guy who was my best friend in the dream told me that everyone was supposed to go to the main area of the camp. So we ran there and it was like a giant while building, like something you would see in DC.
Everyone was in there and a person yelled, "Everyone keep calm. There are gummy people on the loose! It's because they had Obama care. Don't let them catch you or you'll turn into one too!" So, what do people do when gummy people are on the loos? Obviously they run frantically in every direction. So there I am running about, and I see all these colorful gummy people running after everyone else. They looked like gummy bears but shaped like a person. I know, weird! Suddenly a thought came to mind. "All they need is love." I said to myself and I ran up to one of them and gave them a hug. Do you know what happened? The gummy person turned into a real one. So then everyone started hugging the gummy people and we were all real again!
 The End.

12. How do you usually wear your hair?

Ponytails in the summer, also braids. When it's cooler I wear it down with a headband or something.

13. How often do you read?
Whenever I have the time! :)

Emily's Questions

-Which fictional character are you most like? (be honest!)

-What made you want to start blogging?
I was inspired by other blogs to start blogging. I looked like so much fun so I had to try it out!

I named my blog "Eve of Womanhood" because I'm still young and am striving to become the woman God wants me to be. :)

Math!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

-Favorite name for a girl? For a boy?

Probably Doctor Who's or Pride and Prejudice's.

Jollygirl's Writing Contest Entry
{my photo}

As I walk along the deserted road,
the rain slowly sprinkles down.
It's the beginning of a great show.
The cold wet drops refresh the humidity that fills the air.
Everything is
so dreary and beautiful,
yet so dramatic,
when it rains.
The sky sheds it's tears,
drip by drip.
The rain's music steadily plays
as it hits the pavement and
and jumps as it splashes.
The rain's song grows louder as if it is the big finale,
the wind slowly blows the rain,
as it dances,
elegantly,
but with such control.
and I just stand there,
watching the rain's performance.
Hoping there is an encore.

Unkind Words | Writing Contest

So, some Anonymous person has been putting mean comments on my blog and other blogs about my blog designing. I'm not sure what they''re getting out of being not very nice to people but I'm still going to continue to pray for them for whatever is troubling them.

Oh and Anonymous, if you are reading this, please stop
being unkind to others. Let's all be nice to each other. I'm sorry you don't feel that my designs live up to your standards, but I'm just a beginner and am really enjoying learning new things everyday. :)

Btw,
I love this community of young bloggers we have. When ever I told them about the situation they gave me so much support and even built my confidence. Thank you all so much for your prayers and kind words.
They truly uplifted me. Thank you all again! :)

Anywho,
I was going to have a Writing Contest since I now have 60 followers!!
The prize is that I will have your blog button on my sidebar for a month! Sorry, I know it's a lame prize. If you don't have a button I can make one for you. :)
Rules:
1. No swearing
2. Nothing "bad" in your writing
3. Don't copy others

Okay then, now that we got that settled, we can now proceed.
Okay so it can be any form of writing. Poem, short story, etc.
This contest will end on
August 25th.

I look forward to your writing masterpieces! :)
